MA for Dr. Vondrak
My name is Jesusita M. Cordnidez but for short, everyone calls me Jes. I am a medical assistant and have been a part of the Desert Pediatrics team for some time.
To tell you about myself, I am married to my wonderful husband. We have a little one of our own and a puppy. They are a great support system and help me achieve all my goals. Life is great with them at my side.
At Desert Pediatrics, I work with Dr. Vondrak’s team and when needed, work with Dr. Nguyen’s team, but we all help each other to give the best possible care to our patients. The best part about being here is seeing the children improve. When they come into our office, their smile can brighten anyone’s day!
I enjoy working with the people at Desert Pediatrics and they have become my family away from home.
I graduated from Pima Medical Institute in September of 2015 and joined Desert Pediatrics shortly after graduating. At the time I had no clue how challenging and rewarding it would be working with children of all ages.
I learned at an early age the importance of caring for others despite a persons disability or circumstances. As my mother was a foster parent, I saw first hand the difference love makes in a child’s life, and it still inspires me to this very day.
My first impression of Desert Pediatrics was the warm and fuzzy feeling I received from all of the staff members. and towards the patients as well. I knew then that this would be a great place for me to learn and become a loving and caring staff member such as the coworkers that I have come to know and care for.
Medical Assistant to Dr. Vondrak
Hello, my name is Virginia. I graduated from Pima Medical Institute in February of 2016 as an up and coming medical assistant. I started with Desert Pediatrics as a temporary medical assistant with Dr. Vondrak. Being that I was fresh out of school I never imagined myself working at a pediatrics office until I joined the team at Desert Pediatrics.
The team was so welcoming and caring that I felt right at home since the very first day I started. I was saddened at the thought of leaving but was soon offered a full time position shortly before my end date. I was very excited at the thought of getting to be around all of our fun-loving patients, I didn’t even give it a second thought.
Though I have lived in Tucson my whole life, I find that there is so much to explore about Tucson. I love exploring new book stores to find thrilling books that both my dog, Bailey Rose, and I can enjoy. One of my other favorite past times would have to be collecting Tsum Tsums which the kids really enjoy as well.
Dr. Tien Nguyen, MD
Dr. Nguyen joined Desert Pediatrics in 2016, and is thrilled to be a part of a well-established and family-focused practice. She is a graduate of the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine, after which time she completed her pediatric training at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, UCLA Medical Center, and Cedars-Sinai.
She has 10 years of experience as a pediatrician, including in the San Francisco Bay Area and later as a faculty member at the University of Arizona – Banner Diamond Children’s Medical Center. Her areas of interest are in infectious diseases, vaccination, and childhood asthma.
Outside of work, Dr. Nguyen enjoys cooking, baking, crafting, and spending time with her daughter, son, and husband.
MA for Dr. Nguyen
Although I was born and raised in Austin, Minn, I’ve lived in Tucson for half of my life. Like so many snow birds, I visited Tucson on vacation and just loved it. It’s such a beautiful place to live.
I have worked at Desert Pediatrics since transitioning from GHMA in 1998. I love interacting with the children and their parents and hope to make their experience here as comfortable as possible. I’ve developed some strong and wonderful relationships with so many and love watching them grow and prosper. I am a certified coder, love to read and enjoy the imcomparable Tucson weather.

LPN for Dr. Nguyen
Victoria Reyes Diaz is a licensed practical nurse at Desert Pediatrics originally from Alameda, New Mexico. She recently received her certificate with honors as a medical coder. She also has a bachelor of science in business management and a master of arts in organizational management. During her time at Desert Pediatrics, she has worked closely with Dr. Vivi Nguyen as her nurse.
Victoria uses her pediatric and nursing skills that foster development in pediatrics. She is fluent in Spanish and has notarized and translated pertinent legal documents. At times, she is utilized as an interpreter.
When Victoria is not at Desert Pediatrics, she enjoys walking, exercising, playing the piano, reading, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoys traveling across the country and did a European vacation, a gift of a lifetime with her sons, Julian and David.
I have worked at Desert Pediatrics since 2002 and in that time have worked with Dr. Vondrak as his Medical Assistant as well as transitioning to front office and eventually office manager. I have enjoyed my time in this office. It is like my second home, and I enjoy my extended family.
I have learned so much from Dr. Vondrak and Dr. Nguyen and I truly enjoy all our families that come into our office. It is amazing to see the little ones grow into adults in front of our eyes. It always feels a little sad when they graudate to an adult doctor. I imagine it is like sending a child off to school for the first time away from home.
Since I have been at Desert Pediatrics, I have had several life events. I was married in 2006 to my husband Peter and in 2008 we were blessed with our first daughter. Six years later we were blessed again with a second daughter.
My name is Anna. I am a native Tucsonan. I have been married for thirty years and have two beautiful and talented daughters who are eighteen and twenty-one years old.
I have worked for Desert Pediatrics in the front office for thirteen years and have always felt my years here have been quite a life-enriching experience.
One of the aspects of working in Pediatrics I most enjoy and appreciate, is the diversity of families we serve, from two parent families to single parent, grandparent caregivers, and wonderful foster parents.
I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to work with each of our patient families in ensuring their children are receiving the best pediatric care available.
